People

At the core of our philosophy exists a deep affection that we all share for our magnificent estate.

It is our inspiration, our motivation, our work, our play. This is the team behind Skipstone.

Fahri and Constance Diner

Fahri & Constance Diner

Proprietors

To Constance and Fahri, Skipstone is more than a winegrowing estate — it is a devoted partnership with the earth.

A native of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, Fahri speculates that an affinity for the land may be in his blood. Blessed with tranquil olive groves and idyllic Mediterranean sunshine reminiscent of his birthplace, Skipstone inspires in Fahri an instinctive connection to the property. Fahri’s years as an entrepreneur and venture capitalist have given him a striking ability to envision the potential of a property like Skipstone. He believes passionately in Skipstone’s mission to produce wines that rival the quality and artistry of California’s most highly regarded wine estates.

A quintessential connoisseur of fine-and-fast things in life, Constance leverages her deep expertise in marketing luxury products to help expand Skipstone’s brand recognition. Instilled with an unconditional commitment to quality through her European roots from Germany, Belgium and Switzerland, she connects naturally and harmoniously with Skipstone. Constance graduated from Centre International de Glion in Montreux, and led marketing, brand building and event management activities at Cartier, Rolex and Formula 1.

Constance and Fahri’s extensive travels around the world serve as a source of their inspiration for new and unique ideas. Their global perspective and pioneering spirit provide the core foundation for every endeavor of Skipstone.

Laura Jones

Laura Jones

Winemaker

As winemaker at Skipstone, Laura oversees farming and production at the estate vineyard and winery. Her approach begins in the vineyard, where detailed farming and close observation inform precise decisions in the cellar, all in pursuit of wines that speak clearly to the place from which they come.

Prior to joining Skipstone, she spent over a decade honing her craft at acclaimed estates in California, New Zealand, and France, including positions at Aubert Wines, Cliff Lede Vineyards, and Domaine Armand Rousseau. Together, those experiences gave Laura a perspective shaped by different vineyards, climates, and winemaking traditions while reinforcing the importance of understanding each site on its own terms.

She received a BS in biology from Pepperdine University and went on to earn a master’s degree in viticulture and enology from the University of California, Davis. Having followed Skipstone’s evolution for years before joining the estate, Laura came to the vineyard with both familiarity and curiosity. Today, she is helping shape its next chapter through an increasingly intimate understanding of the land, season by season and vintage by vintage.

For Laura, that continual pursuit of understanding is central to the work: listening closely to the vineyard, responding with precision, and allowing the character of Skipstone to lead.

Philippe Melka

Philippe Melka

Winemaking Consultant

Philippe spent much of his early life in Bordeaux, receiving his geology degree in 1989 from the University of Bordeaux. In his final year of study, he took a wine course out of sheer curiosity, and from that moment realized that his future lay at the intersection of geology and wine.

In 1991, Philippe earned his master’s degree in agronomy and enology under the direction of Professor Sequin, a renowned terroir specialist. Fascinated by the relationship between soil and wine quality, that relationship between the land and what ultimately reaches the glass has remained central to his work ever since.

Following his studies, Philippe worked alongside respected winemakers at estates including Haut-Brion, Pétrus, Dominus, and Badia a Coltibuono before settling in Napa Valley in 1994.

Today, Philippe consults for a select group of California wineries and vineyards, drawn to properties whose land offers something compelling to explore. It was this promise that originally drew him to Skipstone in 2006.

Two decades later, his work at Skipstone remains guided by the same idea: understand the land deeply, and allow its character to find its clearest expression in the wine.

Juan Alcantara

Juan Alcantara

Vineyard Manager

Since 2008, Juan has learned every job at Skipstone, working from the ground up. The transition to vineyard work was not always easy, but Juan reflects that many of the best things in his life have followed his arrival at the estate.

Today, with a family of his own, he manages the entire property, from the exacting work of the vineyard to Skipstone’s olive orchards and the grounds surrounding the Residence. His years on the property have given him an understanding of the land that can only come through time, observation, and the experience of working it firsthand.

For Juan, Skipstone remains a dream job. He believes everything he did before arriving here prepared him for the responsibility he now carries and the scale of the property entrusted to his care. His gratitude for that opportunity is matched by a deep sense of responsibility for what comes next. When looking five or ten years ahead, he says he still wants to be doing what he’s doing.

His affection for Skipstone is unmistakable. After nearly two decades caring for this land, we like to believe some of that spirit finds its way into every bottle.

Patricia Smith

Patricia Smith

General Manager

Patricia Smith serves as General Manager of Skipstone, where she oversees the estate and guides its continued evolution with a thoughtful balance of hospitality, leadership, and long-term vision. Smith was promoted to General Manager in 2026 following the opening of Skipstone’s new estate winery, a defining new chapter for the Alexander Valley property and one she helped bring to life.

Smith joined Skipstone in 2018 as Estate Director, helping shape the deeply personal approach to hospitality that has become central to the Skipstone experience. From private client relationships to the day-to-day life of the estate, her influence can be felt throughout the property. She also led the redesign and relaunch of the five-bedroom Residence at Skipstone in 2023, further extending the estate’s sense of place and hospitality.

Prior to joining Skipstone, Smith worked with luxury travel company Inspirato, managing private estate and destination experiences across Northern California. Raised in Sonoma County, she brings a lifelong connection to the region’s agricultural heritage and an understanding that exceptional hospitality is ultimately personal.

Today, Patricia works closely with Fahri Diner and the entire Skipstone team to guide the estate forward while preserving the intention, care, and sense of place at its foundation.

Jason Heintz

Jason Heintz

Private Client Director

A native of Napa, Jason grew up in a house surrounded by vineyards. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University, he spent a decade in consumer electronics and graphic design in Silicon Valley before an enduring interest in wine drew him home to Napa in 2010.

Jason’s first role in wine was as an educator with Groth Vineyards & Winery, where his natural curiosity and ease with people became the foundation for a career centered around wine, hospitality, and collectors.

In 2013, Jason discovered Skipstone while serving as Senior Wine Consultant at Ma(i)sonry Napa Valley. There, he hosted individually curated tastings representing more than twenty small-production wineries and traveled throughout the country to share those wines with private collectors. Skipstone quickly became one of his favorites to present, remaining so long after his time at Ma(i)sonry.

After further experience with Cardinale and Lokoya, Jason joined Skipstone as Private Client Director in 2017. Today, he brings together the things that first drew him to wine: an appreciation for exceptional vineyards, thoughtfully made wines, and the lasting relationships formed through sharing them.

Michael Hildbold

Michael Hildbold

DTC Coordinator

Michael has spent the past twenty years working in wine and hospitality, guided by the belief that great wine is best enjoyed through meaningful experiences and genuine connection. A graduate of the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, he began his career at The Ritz-Carlton, where he developed a deep respect for thoughtful, guest-centered service. In 2016, he passed the Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced Exam, reflecting his ongoing commitment to learning and expertise.

After ten years as a wine director in San Francisco restaurants, Michael spent the next nine years at Napa and Sonoma wineries, welcoming guests, sharing stories, and building lasting relationships with wine lovers. Those years shaped an approach to hospitality grounded as much in listening and understanding as in knowledge, allowing each conversation around wine to become personal.

Michael first discovered Skipstone more than a decade before joining the team, giving his arrival at the estate a particular sense of familiarity. Today, he works alongside Jason and Patricia in caring for the collectors and friends at the heart of the Skipstone community. For Michael, the opportunity is a natural continuation of a career spent bringing people and wine together, now through an estate he admired long before becoming part of its story.

Elizabeth Harris

Elizabeth Harris

Group Sales and Events Manager

Elizabeth Harris brings a thoughtful, relationship-driven approach to group sales and events at Skipstone. With a background in luxury hospitality throughout Napa and Sonoma, she focuses on creating intimate, highly personalized experiences that feel seamless, meaningful, and true to the estate.

Over the years, Elizabeth has worked closely with clients and internal teams to guide events from the first connection through the final farewell. She’s known for her attention to detail, genuine connection with guests, and ability to build long-term relationships rooted in trust. She is especially drawn to places where hospitality feels personal, where the setting, the people, and the smallest details come together to give a gathering its own sense of occasion.

At Skipstone, Elizabeth brings that philosophy to an estate naturally suited to gathering. She works closely with guests and the team to shape private and group experiences around the character of the property, allowing each occasion to feel considered without ever feeling prescribed.

Whether welcoming guests for an intimate gathering or a larger celebration, her focus remains the same: creating experiences that feel effortless in the moment because of the care given to everything behind them. In doing so, Elizabeth helps translate the spirit of Skipstone into memories guests can carry with them long after they leave the estate.
